That is crushing news! I still can't believe it, I know he was getting up in age and I am so grateful that we had him this long, but it's still such sad news.

God bless you Mr. Friedman R.I.P. you were one of the greats :(

I loved his book, A Youth in Babylon, and read through it several times. He had some fascinating stories in there- even if some of them seemed to have elements that owed more to showmanship and the art of telling a good story rather than a strict adherence to documenting the factual details involved.

I'd love to see a sequel to A Youth in Babylon, but I think that I read that no publisher would accept it without major cuts that Friedman refused to make. Is that true, or just a rumor?
