Movie Ad of the Week: JOSHUA AND THE BLOB (1972)

John C. Lange's animated 7-minute short JOSHUA AND THE BLOB (1972) -- a follow-up to his JOSHUA IN A BOX (1969) -- was acquired by Jack H. Harris Enterprises, submitted to the MPAA for a G rating, and used as an added bonus with SON OF BLOB (a.k.a. BEWARE! THE BLOB) for some theatrical bookings.

This was also shown on TV in the children's series "THE GREAT SPACE COASTER." Cast member Ray Stephens would show short films, usually to puppet character Goriddle Gorilla (played by pre-Elmo Kevin Clash), on a tiny viewer that would become full size for the kids. Most were from the Italian short series LA LINEA, many were from the National Film Board of Canada, but there would also be some odd one-offs such as this one.

Wow, that's a blast from the past! We used to watch THE GREAT SPACE COASTER and remember the segment with the movie viewer, but have no recollection of ever seeing JOSHUA AND THE BLOB on the show. Thanks for the walk down memory lane, Marc!

Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of the video? What does the cartoon mean? And what is the author try to tell us?
