I think it's SNUFF. Given the national notoriety SNUFF had by this time, with showings shut down in Philly and Boston the spring of 1976, I hypothesize theater owners didn't want to be subjected to the ill-will associated with the title forcing Shackleton to come up with other plans. Given that the tacked on ending uses a rip-saw to dismember a hand ("Get the rip-saw!")and the SNUFF ad art is vaguely similar (a woman's neck in peril), I'd wager that it's probably a re-titling.
Does it say Jack H. Harris at the bottom left?
ReplyDeleteYes, but that's for GATE OF FLESH.
ReplyDeleteCould RAPES be a re-titling of TORSO? It had rapes, and featured a saw (although not a rip-saw) heavily in it's advertising.
ReplyDeleteI saw on IMDB that the production company that handled GATE OF FLESH also put out most of the pinky movies. Could that be what RIPSAW is?
