If this is the same film as "Mo neuih" (1970; aka Devil Woman), someone on IMDb claims they saw it in 2006 "at the Monthly Grindhouse Film Festival here in Los Angeles at the New Beverly Theatre." IMDb also claims it was released to VHS in 1996 by Something Weird video, but I couldn't find it on their website.
DEVIL WOMAN is the movie that was screened at the New Beverly Theatre and was released by Something Weird Video. BRUKA, QUEEN OF EVIL is a completely different movie.
This looks to be a sequel to "Mo neuih", I looked at my copy of “Devil Woman” and a lot of the people involved with "Bruka: Queen of Evil" were involved in the making of "Devil Woman" for instance you have Albert Yu & Felix Villar listed as directors of both films, plus Jimmy L. Pascual is listed in both as producer also you have the star Rosemarie Gil seemingly reprising her role as the gorgon. Even though “Devi l Woman” is a crazy film, this one looks to be even crazier with rock men, bat men, a giant snake with an old woman’s head and a tribe of dwarfs.
I am beside myself with joy as I type this: I NOW HAVE A DVD COPY OF "BRUKA QUEEN OF EVIL"!!! I'll post my comparison of DEVIL WOMAN and BRUKA later this weekend and send you the links.
Hi again! You can officially take "Bruka" off the endangered list. Here's my assessment: www.bamboogodsandbionicboys.blogspot.com/2011/05/bruka-queen-of-evil-1975.html
...and it's wilder than Devil Woman could ever hope to be!
That looks like it might be the greatest film of all time. Bonus points for cribbing Fred Karlin's WESTWORLD score for the trailer!

ReplyDeleteIMDb has Bruka erroneously listed as an alt. title for Devil Woman then. (Wouldn't be the first bit of false info I've seen over there though!)
ReplyDeletei must have this movie!
