Movie Ad of the Week: THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK (1973)

Charles B. Pierce's documentary-style horror smash THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK (1972) had been playing theaters across the U.S. for over a year at the time of this discount drive-in booking in Wayne, NJ on August 31, 1973, so two different promotional gimmicks were employed to drum up business: a "spook-mobile" and an appearance by the Fouke Monster.

FASTER, PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL! screening at the Alamo Drafthouse Yonkers!

Hey gang! Chris will be at the Alamo Drafthouse Yonkers on Saturday, October 5 to introduce a 35mm screening of Russ Meyer's FASTER, PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL! The show starts at 10:00 p.m. For more details, check out the official website. Sadly, FASTER PUSSYCAT co-star Haji succumbed to a heart attack this past August at age 67. The director of the ILSA movies made a G-rated family film?! And it was written by the screenwriter of THE SEA HAWK, SERGEANT YORK and CASABLANCA?! You bet! THE SOUTHERN DOUBLE CROSS played on TV for at least 10 years during the video era (1983-1993), so we're hoping somebody recorded it during that time. Until then, it's #138 on the Endangered List! Movie Ad of the Week: RAW FORCE (1982)

During its first-run release, the wild kung fu vs. samurai zombies flick RAW FORCE opened in 40 theaters in the New York City area and 18 theaters in the Chicago area. Next Saturday (September 28), it'll be playing in one theater: the Hi-Way Drive-In in Coxsackie, NY! Because the new digital restoration of Robin Hardy's THE WICKER MAN, a 40th anniversary re-release from Rialto Pictures, opens on Friday, September 27 in one theater in New York City (the IFC Center) --

-- we dug out this ad from March 28, 1980, when Max J. Rosenberg's Dynamite Entertainment re-released the Anthony Shaffer-scripted cult horror film in one New York City theater (Cinema V's Paramount).
